Wolverhampton was abuzz with smiles and wagging tails on Sunday, 1 March, as dog enthusiasts gathered for a unique animal themed event hosted by Pop + Bark. The Beagle Café – part of one of the popular themed meetups organised by the canine lifestyle company, took over the Slug and Lettuce in Queen Square delivering an unforgettable day for both two and four-legged visitors.
The event saw a lively turn out of Beagles and their humans, who enjoyed an 80-minute off lead playtime session in the heart of the city’s social district. Attendees were treated to plenty of space, treats, spring-themed toys and photo-ready moments designed to capture the lighter side of dog-friendly fun. Whether participants brought their own Beagles or simply came to admire the playful pups, the atmosphere was described as joyful and inclusive.

The main highlight is the famous Pupuccino Bar, serving “pup cups” with a variety of toppings that had tails wagging throughout the day. A shop stall was also available selling everything from doggy toys to a huge variety of treats. Human visitors were just as catered for with delicious brunch-style food and drink.
“I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday than surrounded by all this fuzzy joy”, said one local attendee, smiling as her Beagle chased bubbles and toys across the floor.
Pop + Bark first got started in Surry over six years ago, but their success was helped when they appeared on Dragons Den in 2023. Investments from this helped the organisers become viral with their dog-themed gatherings. Pop + Bark is today heavily committed to helping dogs and humans and to date have raised £10,640.
The event has also signed a six-year contract with Slug and Lettuce, allowing many more “pawsome” canine events experiences including breed-specific dog cafes and discos, mixed-breed events and private parties.

The success of the Beagle Café underlines Wolverhampton’s growing appeal as a destination for community-oriented, pet-friendly events- especially those that bring people together through a shared love of dogs and local culture.
