Season of success: support pours in for New Park Village Football Development

Families, players, coaches and local people came together to support New Park Village Football Development (NPV) at a community fundraiser aimed at raising money to further develop the academy’s football ground on the Prestwood Road, Wednesfield.

It’s good to see so many people out supporting something that’s making a big difference for kids here.

This event brought together people from across the community to support the academy’s vision of creating pathways from grassroot football to the professional game, while helping young players develop on and off the pitch.

Led by former Wolverhampton Wanderers player Joe Jackson, NPV was founded with the ambition of giving back to the community by providing opportunities for young people through football. Funds raised from the event will go towards continuing to improve the academy’s facilities, helping to provide the best possible environment for players to train, compete and grow in confidence.

With sunshine, music and a lively atmosphere throughout the day, the fundraiser attracted support from many people. Families were able to enjoy a range of activities while players and coaches came together to celebrate everything they have achieved this last season.

A standout moment of the day was the annual end-of-season awards ceremony, which recognised players from every age group for their efforts throughout the season. Proud families gathered to watch as coaches took to the stage to present the trophies, celebrating not only footballing ability but also the qualities that define the New Park Village Football Development culture.

Awards reflected far more than goals scored or matches won. Players were recognised for their commitment at training, positive attitudes, determination, teamwork and willingness to support one another on and off the pitch. As each name was announced, applause from teammates, parents and supporters highlighted the close-knit community that has formed around the club.

The ceremony also provided an opportunity for coaches to reflect on the progress made across their teams over the past year, also allowing them to say goodbye to those who have been selected to play amongst the youth for teams such as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa. From players taking their first steps into football to others continuing their development at higher levels, the awards showcased personal growth, confidence and resilience that football can inspire young people.

For many in attendance, the event highlighted the positive impact the academy is having within the community and local areas. one visitor expressed how they think it is important for kids to have places like this available in order to bring people together and find a common ground.

The atmosphere and weather have been great today. It is good to see everyone come together, especially for the kids.

Beyond the fundraising, the event demonstrated the strong sense of community that surrounds New Park Village Football Development. Everyone who showed up all played a part in supporting a project that aims to give young people access to these sort of facilities and opportunities close to home.

Community support will play a vital role in helping New Park Village Football Development continue to grow.
